Allergies: Allergies are caused by one's body having an adverse reaction to a protein. Allergies and asthma are increasing. Could it be from genetically engineered 'foods' becoming ever more pervasive?

Asthma:-Asthma and autism have been linked to vaccinations, a spent immune system and improper absorption of nutrients from the digestive tract.
Avoid all processed food. Avoid milk as its mucous producing. Use Rice Dream instead. Avoid white sugar, flour, rice, and flours in general. Use whole grains. Avoid antibiotic and hormone fed chicken and meat. If you must use meat, use organic beef and free range chickens. Get away from fluoridated water. Use natural spring water preferably with no or at least the lowest fluoride count you can obtain. Stick to a macrobiotic diet. Soon you'll love it, once you get good at making delicious tasting meals.
Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., of the Autism Research Institute (ARI), and Portia Iverson of Cure Autism Now (CAN) both report that many parents of autistic children note symptoms soon after vaccinations. On August 5, 1999, the National Vaccine Information Centre reports significant increases in vaccination reactions, including immune system dysfunction and autistic behaviors as the required number of vaccinations increases.
Vaccines involve injecting a concoction of multiple viruses, bacteria, particles of foreign DNA, animal proteins and toxic preservatives, so the vaccine doesn't go bad, into the bloodstream.
See the book Natural Alternatives To Vaccination, by Zoltan Rona. Available in health food stores and maybe the library.

Autism:-Autism, asthma have been linked to vaccinations commonly given children. Bernard Rimland, Ph.D. of the Autism Research Institute (U.K.), and Portia Iverson of Cure Autism Now (U.K.), both report that many parents of autistic children note symptoms soon after vaccinations. On August 5, 1999, the National Vaccine Information Centre reports significant increases in vaccination reactions, including immune system dysfunction and autistic behaviors as the required number of vaccinations increases.
According to Mary N. Megson, developmental pediatrician, U.S.A., results on autistic children using Vitamin A "reestablished" them. Says Mary "So far, results seem promising...Natural Vitamin A may switch on receptors."
Megson's theory is that brain receptors associated with vision, language and perception may depend upon natural forms of Vitamin A such as is found in cold water fish, such as salmon, etc. The old saying "take your Cod Liver Oil daily in the winter, and get out in the summer sunshine", if applied more today would work wonders.

Coffee or Tea?  Even filtered coffee raises the homocysteine levels by up to 18%. These high levels of are as dangerous as high levels of bad cholesterol (LDLs; HDL is the good cholesterol).
Conversely, many studies show all kinds of teas (but, consider Bancha) are beneficial, having flavonoids (Vitamin K; like the white parts of a grapefruit or orange that can inhibit bleeding {got a nose bleed? Take a Vitamin C with rose hips or other bioflavonoid complex}), antioxidants (inhibits oxidation, thus protecting somewhat the energy hormones, increasing energy and vitality; Vitamin E and Cod and Halibut liver oils are good antioxidants) and vitamins and minerals.
Tea bags can cure sick building syndrome as they remove the formaldehyde gas from sources such as particleboard, carpets, furniture, etc. the air by 60 to 90 per cent. The bags scattered around the house soak up the formaldehyde. Dry black or green tea works best.

Cooking: The Art
Whether one learns from Michio Kushi's books, or takes the courses in Massachusetts, learning to be a great Macrobiotic cook is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself and your loved ones. Cooking is the highest art form, and excellent chefs should be highly respected – why?

-Which is healthier to cook with, a plastic cutting board or a wooden one? Believe it or not, wood is the better surface to use. As culinary hygienists have discovered, it contains enzymes that appear to neutralize bacteria.

Heart:Vitamin E is very good for your heart. Many naturally processed oils are high in Vitamin E. Vitamin E dissolves fat and acts as a trap for free radicals, cleaning up the blood stream. Likewise, lecithin is also a good artery cleaner.
"Scientists now know that the heartbeat is far more complex and irregular than once supposed." ... New Scientist, January 3, 1998, page 20.
"The signals that control a healthy heartbeat contain many different frequency components, and this leads to a highly complex pattern of intervals between beats. The gaps between heartbeats are "anticorrelated": if the heart speeds up over a short sequence of beats, it will slow down again over the next few beats. More beats. In other words, the heartbeat has a fractal pattern.
"An international team led by Plamen Ivanov of the physics department at Boston University decided to compare how the fluctuations in the interval between beats varied between day and night. The results surprised them: during the supposedly relaxed state of sleep, the intervals between heartbeats fluctuated much more strongly, but were brought under control more quickly, showing that the heart is under much closer control during sleep. The results suggest that there might be different mechanisms controlling the heart during waking and sleep, hinting at a hitherto unsuspected role for sleep. "I can't tell you what sleep means," says Harvard cardiologist Aryl Goldberger, "but maybe a function of sleep is to readjust the heart by exercising the system." ...Europhysics Journal, Volume 48, page 594.-...continues
