Just as Christ humbled Himself (Philippians
2:8) when he was a man, so can we. How did he? He prayed
and studied -Luke
2:46,47. He knew His identity. We too should work out our own salvation
14:11 "For whosoever exalts
himself shall be abased and he that humbles
himself shall be exalted."
need to be humbled? Why
do some get so burned in life? Because God cares that we are in touch with
we really are and cares about us not being so dependent upon and related
to the physical. For example: One who lacks
most important character trait for eternal living) lacks tranquility -Luke
21:19. Without that, how can one hear the voice
of the saddest things about life is not to be learning from it.
Such are the
people who go through the roughest times. They are not 'smart' enough to
turn themselves around.
They lack the
interest to learn from others, to talk to them, to get much advice from
many people on their contemplated
courses of action. Perhaps they've never heard Madonna's song the lyrics
of which include the words "all people are lessons to learn"; situations
is of those who seem to have to 'learn the hard way'. It's so very sad
that life is set up that way, but ultimately
turn to good for these obstinate
ones. They'll probably adhere to
God with such

the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
How do you humble
yourself? Decide to serve others -Matthew
23:11 "But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant"-Galatians
5:13,14 "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use
not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself." Think of others
as you serve them as if it was God himself -Colossians
3:23,24 "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not
unto men, knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance;
for ye serve the Lord Christ." Matthew
4:10 "Then saith Jesus.....for it is written, thou shalt worship the
Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve."
Think of the
importance of others to God and get your mind off self-importance –
again, Philippians 2:3. Giving
is living; getting is fretting! Nothing
turns you on like giving.
keeps himself humble by deciding to always be in a frame of mind to serve,
help and assist others and by agreeing with God.
3:13 "Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him

and be clothed with humility, for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace
to the humble."
18:2,11,12 "Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before
honour is humility...The rich man's wealth is his strong city and as an
high wall in his own conceit. Before destruction the heart of man is haughty
and before honour is humility."
22:24 "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches
and honour, and life."
15:33 "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before
honour is humility."
16:19 "Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than
to divide the spoil with the proud."
29:23 "A man's pride shall bring him low,
but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."
57:15 "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity,
whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place with him also that
is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble
and to revive the heart of the contrite ones."
