"My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?" ...Psalms 42:2
.
David.(David in archaeology), more than any other physical human.(and King Hezekiah was close).being in the Old Testament understood the mercy, forgiveness and application of God's gift of righteousness to him, and the fact that when enemies are come against you, it's God behind it. After the absolutely horrible things David did, he comes to an unusual understanding of God's love for him.

God chose David for a specific purpose back then -Psalms 78:70-72 "He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance. So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands."

David.(and even Darwin later).was very forgiving and respectful of others.
King Saul had tried to kill David.(1Samuel 18:10,11).and in this case, was pursuing him -1Samuel 24:1-12; 1Samuel 26:9,23 "And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not, for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord's anointed and be guiltless?.....for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord's anointed."
David, a great leader, however, was not forgiving of those who harm others God has put in power -1Kings 21:7,15,16,19-23; 2Samuel 1:14-16 "And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed? And David called one of the young men and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. And David said unto him.(that was dead), Thy blood be upon thy head, for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD'S anointed."

You would think that David's descendents wouldn't want others to become aware of the fact that they have descended from a murderer. Consider then God, who arranged for Jesus to come out of the lineage of David! -Matthew 1:1; Romans 1:3. What forgiveness is that!....continue?
