John 12:25 "He that loves his life shall lose it and he that hates-(original Greek is to 'love less by comparison')-his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal."

Many believers go to church. What are they hearing from the pulpit which make many complacent? Jeremiah 23:16,17 "Thus says the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you. They make you vain, as they speak a vision of their own heart and not out of the mouth of the Lord. They say still unto them that despise-(original is 'flourish against, disdain')-me, The Lord has said, You shall have peace and they say unto every one that walks after the imagination of his own heart-(like: 'I imagine next year I'll continue on with keeping the law's ten commandments and be giving my tithe to the church as the pastor said, so that things will go well for me', or other things we see as being right for us), no evil shall come upon you (or, don't worry, God is a forgiving God)-no evil shall come upon you."

God IS a forgiving God, but He's also a "hard man" -Matthew 25:24. God wants the highest position for you that you can possibly achieve. And God gets perturbed with those who teach things that cause people to become lukewarm in love and cool in compassion. When we leave off the beatitudes, we're left with the me attitudes.

The fear we have of loss is equal to the lack of involvement we have with others. Fear says stay, be comfortable. God says 'I've given you the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ is in you. Why do you then select a life lacking courage?'

We are to vigorously pursue with effort, providing peace to all -Hebrews 12:14.
And what have some learned that is causing them to, in effect, be offensive toward their poorer brothers and toward others by not sharing with them -Luke 17:1,2; Matthew 13:38-41; 18:6,7; Romans 15:1,7 "We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God." Romans 12:13 "Distributing to the necessity-(original is 'those needing money')-of saints; given to hospitality-(original Greek for 'hospitality' is 'friendly to strangers')."
    Also 1Thessalonians 5:11,14; 2Corinthians 13:11; 1:4, and Job's example.
We can learn to do good if we want the Holy Spirit's guidance in all things -John 14:26; 16:13; Romans 6:17; 2Thessalonians 3:5. But one must take action upon what he learns, otherwise of what value to anyone is it? Not taking action is resisting the Holy Spirit's guidance in one's life and akin to self sabotage--1Thessalonians 5:19; Acts 7:51; 2Timothy 3:8. Taking action is recovering yourself to God -2Timothy 2:26.
Your time (and my time) is as near as death or perhaps, whichever comes first, to the setting up of God's government here on earth -Luke 21:28; James 5:8. I want to get you to achieve for yourself the highest possible position that you can get -2Timothy 3:17.

Some still focus upon the ten commandments, thinking to keep themselves "right with God" and give themselves that good feeling of "godly spirituality", while the world and some of their brethren remain in dire straits out there. In this they have been deceived (Revelation 12:9) and seduced (1John 2:26) to turn from the truth -Titus 1:14-16; 2Timothy 4:3; 2Timothy 2:19.
Many have been deceived into thinking that the iniquity in their lives to get rid of, is all the things commonly understood as the world-– being sinful, not realizing that the greatest shortfall is that of not loving and caring for others.
If one is plagued by various other character downfalls and he begins actively loving and consistently caring for others, his chronic sins will dissipate.
Do you know what spirit (attitude) you are of? -Luke 9:55,56.
Does smoking, drinking, swearing and the like by others bother you?
What about being bothered enough to alleviate the suffering of those in need, whether or not these things are mixed in? Don't be so sickeningly 'pure' that others repulse you -Matthew 11:19; James 3:17.-...continues
